Full Package Includes
Located in the north-western corner of the Top End, Finniss River Lodge is set upon a working cattle station amongst vast coastal floodplains. Surrounded by salt and freshwater rivers, estuaries, inlets, and the ocean itself, the region around Finniss River Lodge is a fishing paradise with options available all year around. Extraordinary natural beauty and prolific wildlife (including the mighty saltwater crocodile!) round off the Top End’s might.
Fishing at Finniss offers the best of both worlds, with saltwater estuary fishing available within 10 minutes’ drive from the lodge, and intertidal upstream zone being home to many freshwater species.
The best fishing months occur at the end of the Wet Season when the water on the floodplains start receding. The ‘run-off’ results in vast quantities of smaller fish, frogs, insects and crabs being drained into the main channels. The Barramundi congregate at these run-off locations and fishing these waterways at this time of the year can produce some excellent catches for the ready anglers. Trolling is popular all year around and lures can always be used to great success.
Fishing Charter
The vessel utilised for the private charter is a 6.49m custom fit out Boston Whaler Dauntless. Ideal for Barramundi fishing in the Northern Territory, the Whaler is a tough and versatile fishing platform. It has been upgraded to the latest model 300hp Mercury Verado and fitted out with all the fish finding fruit from Humminbird. A standout vessel, that will maximise your chances of reaching the best fishing locations.
Helifishing
Helifishing is an adventurous option for guests looking to explore locations otherwise inaccessible except by hiking. Included within the package is a full day private Helifishing experience in a Bell 206L Longranger. Helifishing provides additional access to the floodplains of the Adelaide River or the coastal creeks, estuaries and striking red cliffs of Anson Bay. All pilots are trained fishing guides.
Fishing Equipment
A full selection of quality fishing gear is provided on-board all boats and Helifishing tours, including rods, reels, tackle, and lures. If you prefer, you can bring along your own equipment.
