Jarbu Lodge

Jarbu Lodge

Jarbu Lodge –NT
Croker Island lies where the Arafura Sea meets the Timor Sea and is an hour’s flight from Darwin. Its landscape is flat, covered with tropical rainforest and fringed by sandy beaches and coral reef. It is where anglers flock to try their luck with Croker’s many species of tropical fish.
Jarbu Lodge is the only fishing lodge on Croker Island and is one of the last places on Earth that you can fish for resident populations of fish that have never seen a line.  The lodge is privately run by owner Rob Hunt and as head guide is enthusiastic to take guests to areas that have been seldom visited before and where the only boat you will see that day is the reflection of the one you are in.
The prime fishing seasons are March to May and August through to December but there is always a fish to be caught at any time of the year in the large coastal area on Croker Island and a number of bays on the mainland.

3 Black Jew Fly

Accommodation & Lodge
With only 4 bungalows at Jarbu Lodge a maximum of nine guests can be accommodated at any one time. The eco- tourism bungalows are built on a platform which allows the sea breezes from the Arafura and Timor Seas to circulate and provides ample ventilation.  The bungalows are either fan cooled or air conditioned with single beds and provide a comfortable place to sleep after a day’s fishing.  There are 3 shared bathrooms available for guests.

The lodge is situated only 100 metres from the beach with astonishing views and is surrounded by many trees and plants.  The scenic wetlands cover hundreds of acres with an abundance of birdlife and wild Timor ponies running free, all located only 500 metres from the back door of the lodge. Hearty meals are served in the dining room that is built on a raised platform with insect proof mesh walls which provides relief from the heat. The relaxed atmosphere can be enjoyed whilst sitting on the balconies located at the front and back of the dining room. This unique setting is a perfect place to enjoy the magnificent views and enjoy a drink at the end of the day.
